out if the blue, the ‘set automatically’ time zone option is greyed out. I can’t change the time zone manually. I’ve tried restarting (soft and hard) along with resetting network settings but it didn’t help. I don’t want to reset all content so looking for ways to fix this

If you turn off screen time then you'll able to change the time.
If completely turning off Screen Time does not allow you to change the time, even after restarting the phone (see-->Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support) then your cellular provider isn't letting you change it. Or, if you have a company email account on the phone your company isn't letting you change it.
And another possible issue occurred to me; see my post in response to Xx_D3LT4_xX.
Some carriers do not allow you to turn off "Set Automatically" on your phone.
Contact your carrier for more information.

This did not work for me.
As I mentioned, contact your carrier; it's up to them whether to allow you to set your time and date to anything other than their standard.
Even if it used to work they may have turned off that ability.
If you have screen time enabled on his phone you cannot change the time during the restricted times. If you could there would be no purpose in having Screen Time restrictions.
Yep, I'm sure this is it on my son's phone. Good call.
It appears to me that it never allows him to change the time. If he could change the time during non-restricted hours he could keep it in non-restricted hours. If anyone has details to the contrary I'm interested.
My son and I are both on T-Mobile. It's grayed out on his and not on mine. We're both on the network.
How do you explain that?
And can anyone else verify that carriers do this? I'm skeptical.

i Had my time set 5 minutes ahead without any problems then today it greyed out. It’s only my phone not anyone else’s in the house.
My son and I both have T-Mobile 35.0 carrier settings.
