Unable to Delete My Other User (macOS Mojave 10.14)

Hello people!

My problem started when the new Mojave came out a few months ago. I was unable to update my MacBook Pro 15" w/Touch Bar 2016 so I searched for a solution here and it was to create another user and update the computer from there. After the update when I wanted to delete that user, I couldn't because every time I click on the minus "-" and write the other account's password the pop-up wiggles as if I wrote a wrong password and I'm 100% sure it is right!

I tried changing the password, booting into recovery partition to reset its password, none of these solutions worked. Just so you know, the user I want to delete was an administrator and now it is a standard user. Any ideas that you could possibly help me with?

Thank you in advance!

I tried this:

  • Boot into the recovery partition.
  • Choose Terminal from the Utilities menu --> Terminal should appear.
  • Enter:  resetpassword at the prompt and hit return --> a new window/app should appear behind the Terminal window called "Reset Password"
  • Go through the steps to reset the password for the account you're trying to delete.
  • Restart the Mac and log back in as your main admin account.
  • Go to Users & Groups System Preferences pane, select the account you're trying to delete and hit the minus button.

And then I launched Terminal and typed these commands:

sudo dscl. delete /Users/Mojave
sudo rm -rf /Users/Mojave

Both didn't work. And yeah the user I'm trying to delete is standard.

I understand that solution did not work. I would like to know what error messages were provided since that would provide some help in determining why the solution did not work for you.

The first part done from the Recovery HD is actually one solution. The Terminal commands are a separate solution. What happened with the first solution? Only one solution should be tried. If the first one fails, then you try the Terminal commands. In that you should use the name of the account you are deleting. You used /Users/Mojave. Is that the account name?
