Can I block certain desktop folders from backing up to iCloud?

I have a few folders on my desktop that have large files in them that I do not want to upload to iCloud because of their size. However, I do need to upload the other folders in my documents and desktop to my icloud for sharing and backup purposes. Can this be done?

So far, all I see is to include or exclude ALL of my desktop and documents.

Is there any way to create a place anywhere on my MacBook to store large files that aren't uploaded to iCloud while my desktop/documents are uploaded?

Thanks!

Anywhere on your Mac other than Desktop or Documents. One option: open a Finder window, use the "Go" menu in the menu bar and click Home, then the File menu > New Folder and name the folder as desired. That will be a folder not in Desktop or Documents.
