Activity map colors

My Activity map shows yellow and green parts along my path. I've seen threads indicating that green is fast, yellow slow and red slower. But on different days I've varied by as much as 10 "/Mi, but always have a mostly yellow route. Is there a way to set whatever makes the color change?
