Do I need a Sim card for my new Ipad Pro?
I just received an iPad Pro for Christmas. I haven't used one before. The screen has a pop-up that tells me it doesn't have a Sim card installed. Should it come with a Sim card, and why would I need one?

A cellular iPad may or may not come with a SIM card. The SIM card is used to provide cell service settings so the iPad can connect to the internet when away from WiFi. It does not however let the iPad make or receive cellular calls or send or receive sms text messages.
Wether you need or want a SIM card is entirely up to you. It would require paying for cell service much like you do for your cell phone.
There is no requirement to have a SIM card however. The No sim message will however continue to show up at the top of the iPad.
Thank you for your response. Your explanation was clear and very helpful.
