Guitar effects not working in Logic Pro X 10.4.3

I have a Steinberg UR22 mkII audio interface,  with an iMac OS Mojave 10.14.2.  on iMac 2017 27" with 3.5 ghz Intel Core i5, 16 gb ram and 2 TB HD. Software is up to date, and driver on UR22 is up to date.

The problem I keep having is that when I plug guitar into the UR22 and play in Logic Pro X the guitar effects don’t work. I selected various effects. I only get the “dry guitar” even though in Logic X I’ve checked “software monitoring” of the guitar. I then tried turning the Mix knob on the UR 22 all the way to “DAW” as was recommended online. I couldn’t hear my guitar at all so that didn’t work. I did select Steinberg UR22 as my Input and Output device in Logic. Can you help me solve this problem? Not sure what's going on. Help appreciated.

Thanks

I fixed it! I changed the Input to Channel 2, which is the channel my guitar is plugged in to on the UR22. All the guitar effects now work! I've pasted a picture.

Thanks for everyone for your great help and thinking.

Best regards

Logic's Preferences/Software Monitoring ON, I think we established that.

You do not need the "I" Input monitoring enabled in the channel strip, with software monitoring enabled you should get pass-thru when Record is enabled.

If that doesn't help Start a new project with a couple of audio tracks... Go Simple, add a single Chorus plugin on an Insert.

Always cut things down to a bare minimum when troubleshooting.

All done as you suggested. Still the dry guitar.

Other thing I didn't mention because I didn't think it mattered, is that I have hooked up a "Big Knob Passive Monitor Controller" so that I can switch between one source (Steinberg/Logic Pro X) and another (the computer: for You Tube Vids, iTunes, Transcribe! software, etc.). That way I can use my monitors for music making or everyday general computer use.

So the way I have that hooked up is: a) Two 1/4" TS Male from Steinberg Line Output Left/Right to Source Input A Left/Right on Big Knob. b) Two 1/4" TS Male from Big Knob "Mon Output A" Left/Right to Left & Right Monitors (Yamaha HS 5's). c) a 1/8" cord from iMac headphone jack to (Stereo) "Line In B" on the Big Knob.

Not sure that matters re: the main problem, but might be helpful. Thanks so much for your help Indyuser and Pancenter.

Done. The signal is coming through. No sound of my guitar coming through the monitors though. I can hear the "Drummer" track clearly. When I plug in the headphones into the Steinberg I hear a faint dry guitar, but that's it, though I hear the drum track. Also, with phones on the I can't in any way adjust the volume of the drum track.

I wonder if I should re-download the program?

This is a security feature I discovered in Mojave. Kind of tricky as the option to authorize seems time limited; 30 minutes I think. After that you have to uninstall and reinstall the related piece of software to restart the procedure. I have mixed feelings about the implementation but this is probably best for Alpha users. Maybe a function like holding the Option key to show all the unauthorized softwares could be useful.

Hi Wildrums,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did all the above. And input 2 HiZ on, Mix is turned all the way to DAW (which prevents me from hearing anything through the monitors - but when I put headphones on I hear the dry guitar, faintly, and without headphones, when I turn the mix knob to 12 o'clock I hear my dry guitar). I've attached a screenshot of the DAW interface if that helps.
