This is a helpful hint since the usual keyboard shortcut is no longer available to shutdown Mac OS.
That's it. You can now use your Shortcut to shutdown your new MacBook.
I would run the latest version of Mojave. I'm not sure if the Menu Title is case sensitive. Did you type that as "Shut Down"? Once you've set it up for All Applications try having Safari open and active (in focus) as a first test and then try the shortcut.

I didn't update Mojave, but instead figured out what caused the problem. I'm using Finnish as the system language, so the shutdown menu title doesn't read "Shut Down.." but the Finnish equivalent. Once I realised that the menu title my new shortcut is referring to has to match exactly that found in the Apple Menu, I got the thing working.
Tried it. Doesn't work. Another Mac user reported the same.
Does is work for you?
My Mac is running Mojave 10.14.1, so not exactly the latest version, but I figure it's not too old either. Do you think updating would help?
