Connecting my Macbook (TB2) to New iMAC (TB3)

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) with Thunderbolt 2. I just bought a new iMAC with Thunderbolt 3. I'd like to share screens between both devices. I can't figure out how to connect them, or what adapter I need. I bought the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and the Thunderbolt cable, but that didn't seem to work.

Thanks!

iMac Pro

Target display mode has not been supported on iMacs since 2014

From this page: Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support

So, there is no direct way to use your iMac as a display. The only alternative

is Screen Sharing over a network, which depending on your use may suffice

but for anything graphically or video oriented it will likely be unsuitable.
