Refund assistance

I made a 99.99 payment to an app. This was charged to my account and the app never gave me my purchase.

I contacted them and started the process of disputing this, which obviously takes at least a day.

They got back to me saying they never got the purchase data and to contact Apple for a refund.

I did so. While all this is going on, a random, unrelated fraudulent charge of around 30$ is applied to my account. My bank caught it, but as a result, the card that I used to make the 99.99 purchase had to be closed. This action was not up to me, and is not reversible by my babk. They CANNOT reactivate the card.

Apple has gotten back to me saying that I will be getting a refund. I emailed them back explaining the situation. The most recent response now has been that this refund was already sent, and that regarding my card I will have to contact the bank. There is no refund in my account and there isn’t going to be, because this card was deactivated a few hours after the initial 99.99 charge failed.

What now, Apple?

You're not talking to Apple on these user forums, you know that we are just fellow users.

The card issuer should still be able to process the refund to the cancelled card, I've had refunds from elsewhere in the past and my card issuer had no problems processing it.

How long ago did you get the email about the refund ? Refunds to a credit card can take seven to ten days or so to go through.
