Cannot scan multiple pages into a single pdf AND cannot combine separate pdf’s.

Using 10.12.6 macOS Sierra. I need to scan multiple pages into one document. But Preview or Image Capture can only scan one page at a time into individual files and then we have to combine all the files. I added all the separate files into one Preview window, but it won’t save the combined files. The combined file says “7 documents / 7 pages total” but it will not save the combined files. I followed Apple’s instructions at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202945 but to no avail.

Macbook (2016 or later)

First of all, you need a scanner with a loader that can handle multiscan (more than one piece of paper into one file).

If do not have that:

If you want to combine PDFs in one document:

start the first page with Preview,

set the side list visible,

move the next PDF into this side list,

and so on...

When ready select all pages in the side list,

the select Print from the menu,

then select Print to PDF at the left bottom side,

then select print to pdf.
