How to get a 30" Apple Cinema display to work with current MacBook Pro (2017) with USB-C ports?

I have tried using a DVI-D to USB-C adaptor along with connecting the USB from the display to the laptop using a USB to USB-C adaptor. The Apple Display is recognized by the laptop and shows a connection but nothing appears on the Cinema display. Any ideas or suggestions to get these to work together would be appreciated.

You need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapter

to use with a Mini DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapter (don't forget to plug in its USB cable).

(Many USB-C to Mini DisplayPort adapters don't support DVI adapters. The one I linked says it does support them.)

Plug the display's USB cable into the dual-link adapter, and the adapter's USB cable into the computer via your USB-A to USB-C adapter.
