iPhone - Various Models - Selfies Appear Backwards AS TAKEN

On several of my friends' iPhones(6 or later), selfies are appearing backwards AS TAKEN - NOT just in viewfinder mode when just framing the scene before snapping it.

In other words, if there is any text, or a clock, in the background of the selfie photo itself, that text or clock appears backwards, as well as, of course, the person and everything else in the photo.

They are not making this up, they and I have witnessed this phenomenon, and we want answers.

On a properly working iPhone Camera(mine, my wife's), yes. But there seems to be a misunderstanding of what is happening on a few of my friends' devices. The TAKEN selfie, the one represented above on the right, is coming out as it appears in the VIEWFINDER(left) - BACKWARDS. By "taken" I mean AFTER the button is pressed to take the selfie.

In other words, their iPhones(and one Droid) are not performing the function of FLIPPING the TAKEN image so any words/characters appear correctly. So both selfie images above(preview on left, taken on right) appear as the one on the LEFT!

HOW else can I explain it?? Does it need to be demonstrated in person?

Me: 4(mothballed) and 5S - Selfies taken correctly(as in my above example)

Wife: 8S - Selfies taken correctly

Friends: iPhones 6-10, plus one Android - Selfies taken incorrectly - taken selfie photos appear in above example as in preview(left hand image - BACKWARDS).

Reminder: "Taken" = AFTER round red or white shutter button is pressed(represented by RIGHT hand photo in above example).
