Can’t use Face ID to get apps.

I’ve tried to use Face ID to get apps from the App Store but it won’t let me. It says just to sign in and when I do it tells me that there was a problem setting up a biometric authentication. What should I do? I’ve reset Face ID and even switched the button that says itunes and App Store on the Face ID settings but it tells me the same thing. Is there a fix for this?
