Your Mac already INCLUDES far, far better protection for Spontaneous virus attacks that you can buy from any source.
Most traditional Anti-Virus Scanners are overpriced junk that scan and scan looking for patterns that may randomly occur in picture files and other places. They punish performance and make your Mac unstable. avoid them.
Malwarebytes free version does a scan for Viruses once. If you want it watching (but NOT scanning) all the time, you can buy that version instead.
There is no software that can protect you from malware that fools you into Installing inappropriate stuff. Fake Flash Player downloads are by far the most common "trick". You must look carefully at the box shown when authorizing new Installs, and make certain the software comes from appropriate sites like:
get.adobe.com/flashplayer
and not
hackersparadise.com

Malwarebytes is still free, the two week trial is for the premium version which is actively looking for malware, the free version checks only when it's manually executed.
Correct. You do not need an antivirus app. That popup is from a site you are visiting. Try clearing your browser's cache or if you are using Safari as your browser try quitting Safari then while pressing the shift key relaunch Safari. This will start Safari in a clean state.
Hey people, you are not reading the Malwarebytes pages thoroughly. Not being careful Internet users it's no wonder you think you need antivirus software on your Macs. :-( Malwarebytes does have a free version, they just encourage you to get the constant monitoring option.

Anyway, Malwarebytes is not a virus tool, it scans for malware (which you have to be pretty lax in your security to get in the first place). True virus scanners will slow down your Macs and the next post we see from you will be asking why your new Macs have suddenly slowed down incredibly. Many posts of this kind related to people using antivirus and cleaning software on their Macs.
You do not need nor should you use a third party antivirus app.
MalwareBytes is not an antivirus app and it does have a free option.
Thank you all. Indeed MalwareBytes is still free. I had tried to download and reinstall it as the site says to do. It still gave me an error message. I just downloaded it again and it worked. All is well.
You've told us twice now that MalwareBytes is no longer free and you have been told differently. Now it is up to you to use the free version or to stick with your belief that it is not free.
Malwarebytes is no longer free. It is only a 2 week trial now. then $39.00 per year for one device. Do you recommend buying it?
