Videos Not Copied From Photos to iPhone?

Hi folks. I take videos for Instagram on my iPhone. I import them, using Photos. Yes, a video is not a photo, but that's what happens. The video now sits in Photos.app on my Mac.

How can I get it into my photos library on my iPhone? I need to post to Instagram from my iPhone, so need a Photos library to contain that video. It's not there. Looking in Photos on my iPhone, I can't see the video either. The video is nowhere to be found.

Why the break in workflow? Why is it only assumed one-way, from a sync from iPhone to Mac only?

Any insight appreciated. All this video and Apple of all people, is standing in my way yet again.

Cheers

Thanks for replying, BioRich, and that additional info, it really helps! Based on the section titled "Sync your photos manually with iTunes" of this Apple resource, make sure you have the "Include Videos" check box before syncing in iTunes:

Keep your photos safely stored and up to date on all of your devices

Hello BioRich,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to get a video from your Mac to your iPhone. To do this, please follow the steps in the section titled "Get photos from your computer to your iOS device" from this Apple resource:

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Cheers!

This is what it says:

You can choose among several options for transferring photos and videos from your computer to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:

  • Use iCloud Photos with Photos for macOS or iCloud for Windows to keep your photos safely stored and up-to-date on all your devices.
  • Use AirDrop to wirelessly send photos and videos from your Mac to your iOS device. This is a quick and easy Mac-only option for sending a few items. When you send photos and videos to an iOS device via AirDrop, they appear in the device's Photos app.
  • Sync your photos manually with iTunes. Each time that you sync your iOS device with iTunes, the photos and videos on your iOS device update to match the albums on your computer.

The third option there, is what I want. Videos are not copied over. I only want one way to send items, not two ways to send related stuff to the same phone. I also need them visible from Instagram.
