Screen going darker with a pitch black shadow on right side of screen also has a fade image of settings over screen what should I do to fix it

THen you run the risk of losing the data on it.
If you’ve been keeping it backed up then you will only lose what’s been added since that last backup, if not then you may need to start over and will lose anything on the iPad.
