WiFi sign is not showing

please i need help. my iPhone 5 is going through a few problems, i connected my iPhone 5 to the WiFi, in the settings it is showing ticked in front of the WiFi but the WiFi sign is not showing and my phone isn't connected to the internet. please what can i do. please respond as soon as you get this.
