Apple Watch cellular plan “not in use”

I have spent a lot of time trying to get my Apple Watch series 4 GPS+cellular to pick up the plan set up with Sprint. The IMEI and ICCID shown in Apple Watch app is same as what Sprint has registered for the phone number assigned to the watch. What would prevent the watch to receive this information? The plan continues to be listed as “not in use” and I am unable to change that status.

Are there known issues with Sprint and Apple Watch? Any way to force the plan onto watch? E-SIM/ICCID is hard coded on the watch, right? I.e. not assigned by carrier?

Any good insight or actual similar experience?

When I have had issues with my cellular plan (I have AT&T) I found that the fastest way to get it all working was to take my iPhone and Apple Watch into a local store and have them work directly with it. They have the tools and the networks to get it done. Tried in the past to use on line phone support and just ended up wanting to pull my hair out....
