iPhone XR stuck in restore mode

Upgraded to a new iPhone XR from an iPhone 6 at BestBuy. Made an iCloud backup before I traded in my old phone. The XR restore was started from the 6 backup in BestBuy and seemed to going ok.

Got home and Noticed that none of the photos that were in my camera roll on the 6 were restored.

Did further investigation and noticed this message under Settings/Apple ID/iCloud/iCloud Backup

“This iPhone is currently being restored and will automatically back up when it is done.

Restoring media”

Thought it might be that it was because it needed to complete the restore once reconnected to home WiFi network but the phone has been connected to WiFi for 2 weeks with the same status.

FYi, my wife got a new phone at the same time and place and she did not experienced any difficulties .

I am having a similar issue. I just received this phone two days ago and love it. Tonight, I plugged my phone into my macbook (have done this before the issue arose) and it popped up a screen that said my phone had an error and needed to be restored. iTunes began the restore process, but had an error in the midst of restoring my phone. My phone is currently stuck on a black screen with a white apple logo and and NOT MOVING progress bar.

What I have tried:

  1. Restarting computer
  2. updating MacBook & iTunes
  3. Unplugging and replugging USB cable
  4. Switching USB cables
  5. Trying to restart phone using methods defined in apple support page

I am at a loss for what to do.

Hello FloydFurillo,

Thanks for that info and choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to finish restoring your iCloud backup to your new iPhone. To help with your situation, please follow the steps in the section titled "Get help restoring from an iCloud backup" from this Apple resource on your issue:

If iCloud Backup couldn’t be completed or you can’t restore

Cheers!
