Build Order in Animations

Hi

I am using Keynote 8.3, Mac OS 10.13.6, MacBook Pro 2016

In Keynote, I have created a table (3 x 3) and in each cell I am placing an image. I'd like the cells to "animate" to fill clockwise from A1 (A1, B1, C1, C2, C3, B3, A3, A2, B2; just like the opening of the old TV show the Hollywood Squares.)

Under Build Order, I am unable to move around the order of the cells. I used Apple Support and they gave it a valiant effort but were unable to help. Is this even possible?

Forget the table, instead draw a grid using a rectangular shape and 4 lines
place the 9 images one at a time in the respective positions on the slide in the order they should appear
select only the images (command click each one) and add a build in effect for each one: Inspector > Animate > Build In > Add an effect
