iPhone X just after 13 months. Two green lines on the screen, I did not drop or do anything with the phone.
Apple store asked me to pay $279 to fix a defect which is not caused by me, perhaps my fault is buying iPhone X..
Thinking keep the phone like that and switch to Samsung.

I had an issue with an Apple device out of warranty recently. An Apple Store Genius could only replace the item at a discount. He did suggest that a call to Apple support might yield a different result than he could authorize. I called Apple and eventually had it replaced at no cost. There is no guarantee that you will meet with the same level of success, but it is worth a try.

Revisit the Apple Store. Ask the Genius tech what other options you have besides the expensive repair. Be polite. Ask how you can reach the next level of assistance at Apple. You may have a better result that way.
Thanks for your advice! I was polite asking them do me a favor, and the genius tech did ask his uppler manager, but no other options.
