Setting a Static IP Address

I am trying to configure an external device via a network cable. I cannot establish the desired network connection. The default IP address of the device is 192.168.1.10. The subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.

When I enter System Preferences -> Network to set this up, I elect to set it up manually. There exist fields for the IP address, subnet mask, and a third field called "Router." What value might I enter into this last field?

I am trying to perform this operation while also connected wirelessly to the Internet. Is it possible to have two simultaneous connections (one wireless, one hardwired) in play, or must I shut off the WiFi while using the hardwired connection?
