OS update

Hello, I have a slightly older Mac that's running High Sierra version 10.13.6 operating system.

When I check for operating system updates, it shows nothing available.

Any ideas on why it wouldn't update?

Here is link to screencast to better clarify....thanks in advance: https://www.useloom.com/share/0cb8064d57454174999a1380ca8e7082

The About This Mac window shown in the screencast shows that your MacBook is from 2009 - that's going on ten years old!

(My mother has one just like it!)

According to the article linked below, almost no Macs from before 2012 will support an update to 10.14 Mojave. If there's a way around that, I don't know of one.

Ahhhh, thank you both. The machine is indeed too old for an update.

The intent was to install macOS Server and use as it to access remotely ... i.e. VPN from another location.

Maybe this should now be a new thread but, the macOS app requires at least 10.14. Any ideas or workarounds?

Thanks for the links/ideas.

I need to be able to set my location at the aforementioned location thus a typical VPN won't work. (maybe i should have been more specific)

i.e. I'm in Seattle and need to set my location at my home in Florida. I don't need to access files or media...just set my location.

There could be any number of reasons the OP wants to do this - pretty much any reason someone would have to want to know your location, it could be useful. Isn't that one of the major reasons to use a VPN?

I've never waded into this kind of networking, but I would be curious to see how it's done, if anyone wants to help step through it.

OK, exactly what/who in Florida needs to locate you in Florida?

It's for personal reasons (view video link below if you want to know more). I simply want a VPN into my Florida home network so that I can connect to remotely and macOS Server is no longer compatible with my old machine....looking for options. I'll start a new thread.
