i tried to update my MacBook Air but a window pops up saying that MacOS could not be updated on this computer. Restart & try again.
But when I restarted & login, the same window pops up again. So now I can’t even get past the login to use my MacBook. Anyone knows why???

Try reinstalling macOS; this will restart the update and should complete successfully. None of your data will be lost, unless you erase your startup disk.

I have managed to login via the startup disk and all’s good now. I will clear up some space for the update.

I just realised that my MacBook might not have the capacity for the update. How can I undo the install request & login so that I can clear up some space for the update?
Use Recovery Mode for this. Hold down Command-R as you turn on or restart your Mac. You should eventually see the macOS Utilities window. Select Install (or Reinstall) macOS to start the reinstallation. The article I posted details this process.
