Google Search Engine

I cannot get Safari to use google anymore as my default search engine. It has been set up in my preferences but recently it has changed despite my "preferences" designation.

I went to Apple Community, followed one suggestion of going to Safari, preferences, extensions ... I had only one - ANY search and accidentally removed ... how do I get anything back?
