Safari Google searches gives unclickable results and entire page freezes and becomes unscrollable on my brand new Mac Book Pro. Chrome works fine.
Solved! Apparently there's a function in the settings menu that blocks contents. It's now ticked off and all is good. Thanks!
Go step by step and test.
1. Click in the menu bar and click Force Quit.
Confirm it.
Launch Safari holding the shift key down.

If the above doesn't work, try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.
