CONNECTING IPHONE X TO POCKET PROJECTOR

Can someone please tell me what I have to do to connect my iPhone X to a Pico pocket projector? I bought the hdmi lightning cable from Apple and I have bought a lightning cable from Amazon and nothing works. When I connect it all I get is a QR code on the screen. The phone is connecting to the projector but it isn't displaying what is on my phone. If I disconnect the phone it tells me no device connected.
