Opening a new tab in Safari sometimes downloads an empty file

Occasionally, when I try to open a new tab, either by pressing command-T or the + button, Safari downloads a file. The file is usually named "unknown", doesn't have an extension, and does not contain anything when I open it with TextEdit or Nano. It's really annoying to have to delete a file every time I want to open a tab. Please help.

Download EtreCheck: https://etrecheck.com/maspro.  and post the report here.

This is a diagnostic tool.

Click “Click to Download” button,  open Downloads folder, click on it to open, and then select ”Open”.

Click on the bouncing  EtreCheck icon in the Dock.

“Choose a problem” from the popup menu box, and then “Start EtreCheck” in the dialog.

Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” .

Please  post the report here when you reply.
