itunes won't import cds since Mohave

Itunes 12 has stopped importing my cds. It plays them no problem but gives me an error -54 when I try to import them. Any Ideas? this has been since upgrading to Mohave on my 2014 Imac Retina 5k.

Thanks in advance

Hi durantophone,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for assistance! As I am understanding, since updating to Mojave you can no longer import CDs into iTunes without receiving iTunes error code -54. I like being able to import CDs into iTunes as well. I have several articles that may be able to help.

You'll want to be sure you're following the import steps correctly: Import songs from CDs into iTunes on Mac.

Typically error -54 is an iOS device sync error. You can read more about that error at this link: If you see error -54 when you sync with iTunes. It may be worth a look to be sure you don't have any third-party security software as outlined in step two.

If those steps don't work for you, try importing your CDs into iTunes in a new user account and see if the error appears. Here are the steps to create one: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.

I truly hope this helps you start enjoying importing CDs once more.

Thanks for the reply, but none of these steps worked. Used 2 different external CD players, both of which worked fine with my MacBook - just no luck with any of it on my iMac. I've resorted to copying the Aiff files to an external drive, and then converting them to AACs, and them dragging them into my iTunes media folder, and bringing them into iTunes that way, but yeesh what a pain that is.
