iCloud albums not showing up in iCloud folder on PC

I would like to manage the photos on my iphone 7plus on my Windows 10 PC in the same manner I manage them on my phone and at iCloud.com. However the albums I have set up don't show up on my PC. Is there anyway to get them to show up?

Good morning JeanR62,

Thank you for clarifying that you have iCloud for Windows on your PC. On the PC side, this application allows you to upload your pictures from the PC to iCloud, and download photos from iCloud. But the syncing and organizing feature of iCloud only works with Apple devices.

I would suggest using the Shared Albums feature of iCloud Photos on your iPhone to send these personally curated albums to your email address. For example, you could create a shared album for your trip to Italy, and include your email address, or anybody else that you want to be able to view and download the content to their computers. Then create a different album for your cat, etc. Enable the "Public Website" feature so that you can access this from your PC. That way you can view them on your PC as you have them showing on your iPhone.

Each album can contain up to 5000 photos and videos and can be shared with up to 100 people. The photos and videos in your Shared Albums are kept in iCloud, but they don't count against your iCloud storage limit.

Use Shared Albums in Photos

Your other option is to import the photos that you have in an album directly to your PC.

Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Import to your PC

You can import photos to your PC by connecting your device to your computer and using Windows Photos app:

  • Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes on your PC. Importing photos to your PC requires iTunes 12.5.1 or later.
  • Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your PC with a USB cable.
  • You might need to unlock your iOS device using your passcode.
  • You might also see a prompt on the iOS device asking you to Trust This Computer. Tap Trust or Allow to continue.

Then, follow the steps in these Microsoft knowledge base articles to learn how to import photos to Windows Photos app:

When you import videos from your iOS device to your PC, some might be rotated incorrectly in Windows Photos app. You can add these videos to iTunes to play them in the correct orientation.

If you have iCloud Photos turned on, you need to download the original, full resolution versions of your photos to your iPhone before you import to your PC. Find out how.

Photos and videos that you sync from your computer to your iOS device using iTunes can't be imported back to your computer.

Take care.

Thank you for that information, however, it doesn't really answer my question. I already have iCloud for Windows on my PC and have been using it for year. However recently, I started created albums in the photos app on my iPad and iPhone. For instance, I have an album for my trip to Italy, and an album with only pics of my cat. However, these album names do not show up on the PC. On my PC the photos are stored in these folders. Pictures > iCloud Photos >Downloads There are over 2600 photo files in that download folder. I would like to have them sorted into the same album I set up on my apple devices. Why don't these folders come over to the PC?

Thanks.
