problem with old apple ID

This has been canvassed here without success.

My mac mini has been in a box for 2years. Since then I have changed ISP, changed email address, changed my Apple ID to new email address, with new password. (all is fine on iphone and ipad)

have now started my Mac mini and everything still works according to old Apple ID etc. Can't log out of iCloud etc, etc.

Apple states on a support page to temporarily change Apple ID back to old email (on its account page), then log out of icloud on the mac, then return and reenter proper ID. Well guess what, when temporarily changing Apple ID, Apple insists on sending a security code to new (temporary) email address, WHICH NO LONGER EXISTS.

I can't believe Apple can't fix this, as I can't get any OS upgrades. If the old ID no longer exists, just force me to login icloud again.

Which keychains do I rid of to force the issue?
