compressor update problems and FCPX

Ever since updating to Mojave (version 10.14.2) on my MacBook pro (15-inch mid 2015) when I try to send a final cut pro (version 10.4.4) project to compressor I get the following message: Send to Compressor requires Compressor 4.4.2 or later. upon trying to update in the App store I get the following message: Compressor is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates. There is no update available when I try to update. Does anyone have a suggestion about what is going on and what I can do to rectify this situation? Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Move Compressor from the Applications folder to the Trash (do not Empty the Trash).

Launch the App Store, and reinstall Compressor.

Do not Empty the Trash until you have verified the new install will launch and run. If it launches fine with no error messages, freezes or forced/unexpected quits, empty your trash.

And remember, there are no stupid questions.

thanks Ben, i'll try this later today. Once I reinstall the compressor app I assume i can delete the old version. Sorry for such a dumb question. Thanks so much for your help.
