While the MS PowerPoint App for iOS is free, you’re going to need a paid MS Office365 subscription to make full use of it - see https://products.office.com/en-us/office-resources#coreui-systemrequirementv2-5py33nb
On an iPad Pro without Office365, the IOS MS Office apps are basically file readers only.

Unless it's a very complex, animated presentation you should be able to open it with the Keynote app.
Try Documents to Go. Basic version is free
Apple apps like Keynote only save as Keynote not ppt.
Not true. I have exported Keynote presentations to PowerPoint on many occasions. And Keynote will also open PowerPoint presentations.
I have the paid for version of Docs to go that will interface with iCloud because I object to renting apps from MS. Apple apps like Keynote only save as Keynote not ppt. There may be limits eg excel editor will not process arrays and ppt may not handle all features but it’s worth a try.
Mac apps are not compatible with iPads, however you can get MS Office for iPad.
The REAL "Documents to Go" is from Dataviz.
What was the one that Google bought up and then dropped though? I seem to remember using something 6, 7 or 8 years ago that was an MS Office suite compatible app, that then Google swallowed and then disappeared, or something along those lines (my memory of it may well be more than merely fuzzy by now). I thought it was "Docs2Go" or some such name?
Wow, is Documents to Go still around? I used it on my Palm Pilot years ago!
Many thanks for the responses. The requirement is to avoid cloud apps and edit a .ppt that is complex, with animations, etc. Need a locally installed product for iPad PRO to edit and save locally. Worst case I can have them attach to our Citrix environment.
Peter, might want to post the App Store link to the one you use. I see two apps in the App Store actually titled “Documents to Go” by different developers. There’s also “Docs to Go Premium” by Dataviz. Gets confusing when searching the App Store for MS Office compatible apps and suites.

Having used things like this in past years, I agree that none are true or 100% substitutes for MS Office. I use iOS MS Office Apps on my iPad pros under my employer provided Office 365 subscription, and even the native MS Office apps for iOS are not 100% substitutes for their Windows and Mac OS counterparts, at least not with complex and/or large Word or PowerPoint files (and especially if hosted on an MS SharePoint/TEAMs site with edit tracking in use).
Thanks for your response. Yes, they are large and complex customer presentations. Keynote is not an option. I was hoping that Office for MAC might be compatible?
In reply to my own point, for business users MS Office apps for ipad and a 365 subscription is the way to go.
