how do I reset the play count and NOT reset last played date

I've uploaded a new script called ResetPlays which should do what you want. As ever test a few tracks first to make sure it does before committing to change 5,000. You might want to backup the iTunes Library.itl file too just in case you want to restore the counts later.

I wonder when they fixed that so it worked properly again? See my script LastPlayedNever. It would be easy enough to tweak it so that it only resets plays.
