Does apple have access to your health data? IE did patients just become the product?

Where is the privacy and security policy on linking your lab data to your iphone? Does Apple see it?

Apple ID & Privacy - Apple Support

"iCloud Data Security

iCloud protects your information by encrypting it when it’s in

transit, storing it in iCloud in an encrypted format, and using secure

tokens for authentication. For certain information, Apple uses

end-to-end encryption. This means that by design, only you can access

this information, and only on devices where you’re signed in to iCloud.

No one else, not even Apple, can access end-to-end encrypted

information. For more information on iCloud Data Security, see https://support.apple.com/kb/HT202303"

Hey there!

The Health data is all collected on your phone and encrypted at device level. Apple does not see any of this information unless you give them permission to through device analytics sharing.

As mentioned over at Use the Health app on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support:

The information that you create or gather about yourself is under your control, and it's encrypted with your passcode when you lock your iPhone.

To check if Health and Fitness data is being shared with Apple, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Privacy
  3. Go to Analytics
  4. Check whether the Improve Health & Activity, Improve Health Records and Improve Wheelchair Mode toggles are on or off.
