macbook air (2018) not fully shutting down?

when I shut down the MacBook Air (2018), not close the lid--actually choose shut down, it does not fully shut down. the trackpad (at the least) is still receiving power as can be verified after pressing it and it "clicks" and then the computer reboots--I can touch any key for that matter and it turns on.

my MacBook Pro (2105)'s trackpad would not "click" if it was powered down because it was not receiving power.

this means that the battery is loosing a charge over time due to some things still receiving power even though they should be powered off.

anyone else have this problem?

MacBook Air (2018 or later)

I think there was a typo

Just copy this and paste in terminal

pmset -g assertions

the output should look like this

I have a 2016 MacBook Pro and my trackpad doesn't click when shut down. However, this might have changed with newer computers with better batteries. I'm not 100% sure, but so long as you see the Apple logo startup screen after pressing a key/trackpad, the computer is powered off. If this caused the battery to drain, Apple wouldn't have included the feature.

Hope this helps,

Fin
