I replace the finder.app, and now I get the error -8062 everywhere

to try and get my Cover Flow view mode back, I followed a guide online to replace the finder.app with an older version.

I renamed the original finder.app to finderxx.app and copied the other finder app in its place...

At first glance it worked, but upon further examination, turns out I messed up...

Now I can't move files. I can't delete files. I can't even copy files, not even to an external hard drive...

I keep getting the error -8062...

I tried to put back the original finder.app, but I can't rename them anymore, because of error 8062..

Anything I can do to fix this?!

That's the danger with experimenting with system hacks. You did, of course, make a clone backup of your computer before doing this, didn't you. Restore from the backup. If you don't have a clone backup then you may need to reinstall your operating system.

If you reinstall the OS from Recovery it shouldn't affect any of your data or applications. But that said you should always have a backup.

You need to replace the original Finder. Use your TIme Machine backup to revert.

Restore your Mac from a backup - Apple Support

If after that it still doesn't work, try resetting Finder Preferences:

From your Finder "Go" menu > "Go to folder" then copy & paste this file path:

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

Click Go.

Delete the plist file.

Then, restart, or log out and in again.

(You may have to reset some Finder preferences the way you like them)
