Missing desktop icons, files, folders - OS X Capitan (10.11.6)
Started my MBP (after it automatically shutdown due to low battery) and the desktop is now empty! I had files and folders on the desktop, but now all are gone.
If I search for items that used to be on the desktop, Finder can find them, and says they exist in "Bill/Desktop", and when I double-click on the folder I was looking for, all the files are in there. When I right-click on the folder I searched for, to "Show enclosing folder," the desktop folder is empty!
Any help to restore the folders and files to the desktop? Is there some setting or file I need to update?
Screenshots that maybe better explain the problem...
Searching for a folder that was on the desktop, shows it is still there...
The files still appear to be in the folder that was on the desktop...
Show enclosing folder (the desktop) shows an empty folder!
