Why does model A1286 not upgrade to Mojave?
MacBook Pro
There are 22 Macs with that model number. What is the model ID or at least what year is it?
It has to be from mid 2012 or newer.

Your MacBook Pro is too old to support Metal Graphics. As I mentioned, it has to be from Mid 2012 or newer.

Does your Mac meet the criteria to upgrade.
There is not that much difference between High Sierra and Mojave. I like the Dark Mode, I don't really use the News or Stock apps so not so noticeable.
edit: Just to add, the Cover Flow view was replaced which many people don't care for.
