Mac Cleanup Pro

a screen message appeared saying I had 278 issues. I don't know what this is or where it came from. The stated issues very minor. Do I need this "app" which charges a fee? I have not opened the message.

Cleaning MacPro I keep getting the message that their are 83 issues found and that they highly recommend cleaning all junk files, privacy traces, rogue apps and other issues found on your app. There is a Clean Now option. However I am always Leary of messages and want some advice if best place to take my computer for cleanup

No. Those things are very common scams.

Dismiss the message. Read Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popup… - Apple Community.
