beachball

I got Etrecheck and it said that my OS needs to be updated and that I also need to perform time machine.

I removed the suspicious adware. But other than that , why might I be getting this insufferable beachball when I try to add a new tag to a file or folder? Is there a limit to how many tags I can add?Otherwise my computer runs great, I have tons of memory available. But I have noticed some things in my photoshop and finder are buggy.

I have a report from EtreCheck but this window does not allow enough characters.

I don't see any software that normally causes problems. Since the majority of the problems are happening in Finder, the .plist may be corrupt.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.  Move the .plist to your desktop.

Re-launch Finder by restarting the computer and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop. Then reset your preferences as desired.

If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer one.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. My photoshop file sizes do not display the real size in the finder. Usually it will show a much smaller file size than what the real file contains. Also the other day I was using my wacom and drawing and noticed that the lines were suddenly very fine in photoshop even though I had the pressure set properly. That resolved when I restarted my computer.

The only other problem is the beachball in the finder when I try to add brand new tags. Here is a link to my report. https://pastebin.com/uLK8tQks
