my fan gets really loud when i am using imovie is that normal? i was only doing one 3 minute movie so don't think it was working it to hard. I did however have other things open, could that have been the problem?

Hi,
The fan shouldn't be running excessively loud all the time. When my computer's fan runs hard on occasion, usually restarting the computer will solve it.
Video processing is CPU intensive so if you are working on a high def movie, say 4K, and have other processes running as well, that could cause higher fan activity. Possibly your computer is not powerful enough and is working too hard. Go to the terminal app in the Utilities folder and click on the CPU tab to see activity usage and which programs are using the processor. If the usage is very high, close down those programs.
Make sure that your computer is properly vented, e.g, not crammed into a tight cupboard. Or maybe it is getting direct sunlight and thus running hot.
