Q: VERIFICATION REQUIRED

So frustrating. The worst part is the screen on Apple TV doesn't tell you what you need to do. It seems counter-intuitive since I have had my Apple TV for years. But I think when I recently upgraded the software, my iTunes account is treating it like a new gadget.

I went to iTunes store, then to my account page. There was no warning on that page. But I clicked the payment information button. And there it was! In red text, something like "A new device is trying to access your account". New???? Oh well. So I had to re-enter my three digit credit card code, and it worked fine.

Not the clearest communication.

Yep.. checking my payment information on my iTunes account fixed the problem. I had to reenter the security code again.

A few days ago I changed my iTunes account password. I suspect since my AppleTV still used the old password I had to reenter the password on AppleTV and reverify my account payments information on iTunes.

I just had the same problem tonight. The trick is to re-enter your credit card info in your iTunes account setup.

for me it was the code from the credit card itunes wanted..
login to your user account and input the 3 digit code from the back of the card (Mastercard/Visa)
or the 4 digit from the front of the Card (Amex)

This works if you the verification issue with Apple Tv....

I was having the same issue, but I have figured out the issue finally. You need to provide the missing/incorrect information from store in itune program, but you can't do it from apple webpage, this is what I did.

I solved this issue by going to Itunes and updating my account information. The security code was missing from the Credit Card info.

Seems to be billing related - I solved by going to my account in itunes on computer and updating the billing info - my credit card had expired.

I've had the same problem as most of you... rebooting numerous times did not work. Then I logged in my account through the iTunes software and did the payment info again, just as it was before. It's working since then.

Most of you should go to the edit payment option and turn off the credit card and use iTunes cards like the rest
of us who are not getting hacked or leaving yourself wide open for the next intrusion.

apparently verification required is a secret code that means go to your apple account and key in additional info about your credit card. I THOUGHT APPLE WAS BETTER THAN THIS---VERY DISAPPOINTED.

There is missing information that needs to be keyed in. How is it a secret code, it's telling you it needs to verify because it doesn't have all the applicable info.
