Jan 22, 2011 4:54 PM in response to Arnold Millerby pwhitty,I just got this message and I went into my itunes account and under payment information and I updated my credit card information, even though the only thing missing was the 3 digit code, and then went back into Apple TV and it worked. See pudjam666 below, but maybe you already did. -
Jan 24, 2011 9:36 PM in response to Arnold Millerby rogrthedodgr,I got this tonight. After logging into the iTunes Store, I realized I had received a new check card in the mail and it had a different three-digit code on the back. I put the new code into the proper space where my billing info is and presto! I was able to log into the Apple TV. Hope this helps! -
Jan 28, 2011 4:09 PM in response to Arnold Millerby Jeaux2,I just got that message. I logged into my itunes account and entered my security code on the back of my credit card. Logged out and it worked just fine after that. -
Jan 29, 2011 2:06 PM in response to Arnold Millerby richeese,I see apple TV is still a hobby for apple but for us it is our source for movies to watch. But honestly, "verification required" on the apple TV leads you to believe there is some way to verify, whatever it is they want, on the apple tv. Having to go to the computer, search the apple discussion board what "verifcation" means, ie verify the credit card information in my itunes account, when the message could have just have easily said that in the first place, is a big fat FAIL apple! -
Feb 3, 2011 6:06 AM in response to rogrthedodgrby Jeremy Angoff,I was able to solve the problem the same way: Log into the iTunes Store on your computer, go to your
account, and reenter your credit card security code. That will confirm that you are approving a new device (AppleTV) for purchases. -
Feb 12, 2011 3:53 PM in response to pudjam666by googler,Perfect! This is the exact fix I needed. I had tried to reset everything through the web Apple Store account which didn't work. Updating the info through iTunes must be the trick. -
Feb 13, 2011 9:12 PM in response to Arnold Millerby HenryRob,I found a fast and strong wireless connection makes this go away. Good luck! -

I had this same problem. Here's how I fixed it:
1) Go to iTunes
2) Go to your account settings (on my version of iTunes, I click my email address in the upper-right)
3) Click the "Edit Payment Information" button
4) Make sure everything is filled out correctly and click "Done"
Now everything should work correctly. Hope that helps! -
Feb 18, 2011 4:59 PM in response to Arnold Millerby Don Cartwright,It means you have enter the verification code from your credit card. Open iTunes on your computer, click on your account name in the upper right hand corner and re-enter the verification code on your credit card (last three numbers on the back for Visa and Master Card or the four numbers on the front of American Express). -
Feb 20, 2011 7:27 AM in response to Don Cartwrightby Bill L,I had this same problem last evening, even though I rented a movie on my ATV1 just last week with no problem. I tried the "edit payment info" method suggested in this thread and power-cycling the ATV, but to no avail. What worked for me was changing my password on both iTunes and ATV to a new one. -
Feb 20, 2011 8:38 PM in response to Winston Churchillby Istvan Peter B'Racz,There may indeed be a communication error, but I would advise people read this before completely denying any compromised accounts- as I'm one of the many dealing with it right now, still.

Perfect!
I'd replaced my credit card and they added 1 year to the expiration date.
This "required verification."
Many thanks! -
Feb 26, 2011 6:51 AM in response to pudjam666by jgranger,This worked for me. I had purchased something from a different computer, so it no longer saw my "main" computer as being authorized as far as the AppleTV was concerned. I just re-typed the code from the back of my credit card and it worked fine. -
Mar 11, 2011 11:28 AM in response to jgrangerby azaghal1234@,Ok, im having the same problem.
I tried the whole "edit-payment-information-epic-win-soloution-thingy", but with no luck.
Now from what I can tell, you all fixed by entering the 3 digit security code from your credit cards, witch sounds reasonable enough.
The problem is that I only gift card certificate codes, and I have never used any credit card information on iTunes. So in any case I cant see how the security code fix can help me.
As I said, I went to my account payment info, and checked, but all seems to be fine, and credit card section is set to "none".
Any ideas?
