SuperDrive Won't Recognize Blank DVD-R and CD-R /WR - Wont show up in finder or Disk Utility

I have a super drive connected to an iMac running OSX. When a blank DVD-R or CD-R or WR was inserted, the disc would not show up in finder. Finder settings were set to "ask" and "open in finder." Disc utility showed the superdrive and finder showed "remote disc." However, neither could be accessed by drag and drop. Disc utility showed "not initialized." No disc appeared in tree of super drive.

Tried new LG DVD Writer as alternative. Same result as above. Tried different discs from same batch and other new discs from other manufacturer. Same result as above.

Solution - Insert a blank disc. Use existing folder or create new folder on HD and deposit file/s you want to burn. Two finger click on "new folder" and select "burn 'folder name you created'." Allow the burn of the files. When burning is complete. Disc will appear on desktop and finder if you have selected those preferences in finder.

There's a known bug in Mojave that prevents blank discs from showing in the Finder.

We can still burn to disk by putting the files in a folder on the desktop, Control (right) - clicking on the folder and selecting "Burn 'xxxxx' to disc" from the contextual menu:'
