Unlocking screen rotation on iPad mini 4

How do I unlock the rotation on my iPad mini 4 screen? There is not a switch on the side of the screen as with the mini 1 and I cannot find anything in Settings.

iPad Pro 11-inch Wi-Fi, Cellular

To see the iOS version go to Settings > General > About > Version

On iOS 11 and below you swipe up from the bottom edge of the homescreen : https://help.apple.com/ipad/11/#/iPade572ca56

Open Control Centre, if the iPad is on iOS 12 swipe down from the top right-hand edge of the screen and there should be padlock icon with a circular arrow around it.

Many thanks for your reply. Could I just ask how I know if my iPad is on iOS 12 - sorry you are talking to a 73 year old! Where are the grandchildren when you need them!!

Thank you. I am unable to get anything to happen when I swipe down as suggested. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong.
