“Healthy” iPads and iPhones, normally, cannot be overcharged; the charging electronics should regulate the charging process.

However, if a battery or its charging electronics develop a fault, causing the battery to heat beyond a certain critical point, the battery can enter a thermal-runaway state. During thermal runaway, the battery can become very hot and/or physically swell. In addition to heat damage, the battery can mechanically deform both itself and the casing into which it is fitted.

Higher wattage power supplies have the capacity to deliver more power into the iDevice to which it is connected. When all is well, power is correctly regulated to optimally charge the battery. In a fault condition, the increased power capacity of the power supply can cause more power to be disipated by the battery and charging electronics - increasing the likely damage.

Any Lithium-chemistry battery that has been overheated by thermal runaway has been seriously damaged - and for safety must be changed.

I don't know of any company who covers accidental damage, to be honest. This is why it's always advisable to purchase AppleCare+ with every new Apple device. It provides affordable replacement for two incidents of accidental damage over a two year period. The cost is worth the price of admission. I get it with every new iPhone/iPad on the day of delivery.

Are u God So u know what happened better than me. Or are u accusing me of Telling a lie? I said what happened wiz me plain and simple.

the ipad condition prooves no accident happened. May be u know that normally when u dropp an ipad or sit on it. It leaves marks no! scratches dents whatever.

yet u simply confirm that is accident related even without seeing the state of the ipad. Can ur holliness explain the bent? And how it can happen? If you allow me to ask

I don't know how you bent your iPad. I do know the explanation you've given isn't the reason you bent your iPad. If Apple tested your iPad and it tested fine, then the circuity built into EVERY iPad to stop it from charging when the battery reaches a full charge is working. Charging an iPad does NOT cause them to bend. If that were true, there would be millions of us with bent iPads. There aren't and the reason is because what you believe happened isn't reality.

And no, I'm not God. I just know what I'm talking about.

Again, believe what you'd like.

There's no such thing as a factory warranty that covers damage you do to your iPad. No company is stupid enough to do that--they'd either have to double the price or go out of business. You have to pay extra for that sort of thing, e.g. AppleCare +, some extended warranties, or insurance. Apple products are no more "delicate" than those of any other manufacturer.

Well I’ve learned my lesson the hard way! But I do believe that Apple products are generally more fragile than their counterparts. I won’t be spending This kind of money out again given how much I tried to protect the iPad and how easily this has happened! Such a shame as I love the speed and ease of Apple technology as do my children

Well lesson learned then! I’m just really disappointed that the initial 12 month warranty does not cover for accidental damage as we all know how delicate Apple products can be ( I’ve dropped my phone twice).

however yes this iPad was in an extremely secure, well padded case the type of which I’d previously used for an older iPad 2 and kindles with no such issues and it’s specifically designed for young children. Not a scratch on the device at all., it’s really frustrating and now I have to condemn a £420 iPad :(
