I cannot get my birthday notifications to go away. I've unchecked the calendars in the calendar app.. I've changed the default notification for birthdays to none. What else can I do, they are driving me nuts.

I would turn off all calendars. Turn one on at a time and see which one it is. Then you can deal with it. Also if you know the name go to contacts and edit birthdays in there. Ta
