Is pure CPU encoding better than GPU acceleration?

Hi guys, I'm using Compressor 4.4 at Macbook Pro 13 2018, I'm just curious about the quality of transcoding with GPU acceleration enabled. Is it worse than pure CPU encoding(H264, same bitrate, same configuration, same original media)?

h264 mp4 stutter in qt/final cut, but not vlc Hey guys An h264 mp4 1080p 50fps video file stutters severely on Quicktime & Final Cut, MacBook Air 2017 with MacOS Monterey 12.4. VLC player has no problems playing the file. I fixed it by converting the files from h264 to MPEG-4 with Handbrake and 30fps constant framerate - however, does anybody have a clue? During playback with Quicktime, the h264 shows no processor spike, it just drops a lot of frames.
