iphone XR water resistance

Hello,

I'm looking at the XR and it's water resistance claims. I'm less concerned with water itself as water vapour/sweat. I bike, and typically put my phone in my jersey pocket. With my current one, I've damaged it a few times by having it not in a ziploc. Will the XR's water proofness extend to water vapour from sweating/evaporation when located in a rear jersey pocket while cycling?

The iPhone XR is IP67 rated. The 6 is dust rating out of 6 points, and means it is dust proof up to 8 hours. the 7 is the water rating out of 8 points, meaning it is tested submerge in 3 feet of *distilled water* for up to 30 minutes. Since sweat typically has salt and other things in it, this is not guaranteed resistance, though I would be shocked if it killed your phone in a shirt time. A bad combo would be your phone getting really warm against you and getting sweat on it at the same time.

Hope this helps!

It will be more water resistant than previous phones, but it is NOT waterproof. In addition, water resistance is something that naturally becomes less effective over time.

The problem I see with a ziplock is that, to a degree, it may make it more likely to be damaged by liquid as your body heat may cause the moisture in the air trapped in the bag to condense out. Since it will be trapped in the bag with the phone, that could be worse than just putting it in a pocket.

Honestly, if you're wearing team gear, actively involved in a race or event, I'd say you might want to leave your phone behind... Maybe an Watch with cellular would be a better option for you to use while racing.
